PLUS - An Interactive Treasure Map For All Me Buddin' Pirates Arrrr! International Talk Like A Pirate Day September, 19th 2018

Arrrrrrr! In honour of International Talk Like A Pirate Day' I be writin' a post about pirates, inspired by the Blue Buccaneers' new album 'If You Want To Be A Pirate: Songs for Young Buccaneers'. Now, every pirate must be 'avin' a map of where he be putting 'is treasure and so - you can take a look at me map - but you better not be sharin' it with any o' the other pirates arrr! And be warned - if you try to go lookin' for me treasure, there are plenty dangers ahead, volcanoes, quick sand, crocodile-infested rivers, scary trees and spiky cacti. You have been warned arrrr!
I made the treasure map as interactive as possible; with a boat and trees that the pirate can sit in, quick sand that he can sink into and a tree, hills and cacti that he can look behind. See if you can find the treasure! I drew the pirate by hand and taped it on both sides to make it a little stronger because little hands would soon have shredded me pirate to bits arrrr!
The Music
Oh wow this is proper fun and great music for anyone with little kids (or big kids) who like to make-believe. The album is full of upbeat songs that you can make up actions for, and play act like a pirate. Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers are a band of Nashville-based musicians and, if you are unsure about exactly how to talk like a pirate on this very special day, International Talk Like A Pirate Day, Tom Mason has created a video on YouTube just for you!! You can also take a look at their YouTube channel. The new album, "If You Want To Be a Pirate: Songs for Young Buccaneers" is available now in digital form from Amazon, iTunes, and direct from the captain’s quarters.
Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers have been performing together since 2010 and can often be found dressed as pirates. Over the past few years, they’ve performed kid-friendly shows at libraries and other venues. The idea of recording songs for kids surfaced in response to the audience.
“As a band of pirates, we’ve spent a lot of evenings getting adults to get in touch with their inner child,” explains Mason. “I thought it was high time we helped kids do the same. It’s natural for both children and adults to be self-conscious and fearful, and all that shyness melts away when people pretend to be pirates.”
