Watch the video of our dancing children spinning top! All you need is a paper plate and some card to make it at home yourself!

Renee and Friends will release their second album Kindred on April 12th. The new album features a host of special guests including Ziggy Marley, Lisa Loeb, Elizabeth Mitchell, Chris Stills, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, Jeremy Toback and Jennifer Paskow. What I really loved about this album before I had even listened to it was the statement on the press release;

ERASE THE BORDER BETWEEN ADULT AND KID MUSIC

This is something that we should be doing! Because all musical genres can be appealing to both adults and children and music should be shared across the generations. This album is lovely; it has warm, dreamy, relaxed beats just perfect for this time of year, when we are rolling the windows down on the car and heading outdoors to enjoy the sun. Renee Stahl says this about the album:

"I am thrilled that these wonderful musical artists, whom I so much admire, have given their time and talent to help make Kindred what Renee & Friends is all about: people helping each other, coming together, and promoting kindness."

We wanted to celebrate kindness and friendship by making something to go with the third song in the album, Where Do The Children Play. I took a paper plate and turned it into a carousel spinning top and hot glued cardboard children dancing in a circle.

I cut out people using a cutting knife and a cutting board.

I decorated the children by cutting out clothes using paint color sample cards and pencils.

I found the centre point on a paper plate and poked a bamboo skewer through. I used hot glue on both sides to keep it strong and decorated with pastel-colored paper. I then hot glued the children round the edge. It was pretty simple to make and the kids love playing with it. Let me know how you get on if you try making it!
