Raffi's New Album, Dog On The Floor, Released Today

The prolific entertainer for over four decades, Raffi, has released a new album today - Dog On The Floor - and we were lucky enough to be sent a copy. Three songs on this album are dedicated to Raffi's puppy, Luna and, since we are dog lovers ourselves in this family, we decided we would have to do something doggie to celebrate! The album is full of songs with a lovely relaxed vibe, great to play during quiet downtimes. We actually played the music while we coloured our mandalas. It created the perfect relaxed atmosphere.

The Mandalas

We used the mandalas as an opportunity to work on the concept of symmetry. By colouring the dogs symmetrically, we worked on concentration and attention to detail. Of course, after the first one, my three year old was losing focus and you can possibly tell which one was first and which one was last! I posted them all anyway because I still think she did a great job!

First I drew the mandalas. Some were more complicated than others on purpose. That way, my kids could choose the difficulty level themselves. I explained the concept of symmetry and asked them to take their time and concentrate. Mandala is so detailed and beautiful. I think it is a fantastic tool to teach concentration and to relax the mind and create calm in the home! This was our first attempt. We will be doing more now that symmetry has been covered. Next time we will do the more traditional style of mandala that is repeated four times across an axis.

Raffi's Dog On The Floor

Raffi's music, concert videos and Songs to Read books have been popular with families for decades. His new album will be available from today, July 27th 2018. It features really great music for kids and includes some old favourites, like Mary Had a Little Lamb and Here Comes the Sun as well as a whole host of new songs. My daughter was particularly excited by Dog On The Floor which uses the melody of If You're Happy And You Know It. She ran off to get her doggies to play with along to the music! It's a really fun and creative song that any dog lover would enjoy.
