Ladybugs - by Suzi Shelton
I was recently given a sneak preview of the new album by the very talented children's musician, Suzi Shelton. She is known for her catchy and upbeat music. It's not always the case that kids' music is appealing to adults but Suzi seems to have the knack.
Spoilt for choice!
When I first heard her album I couldn't decide which song to work with first! I knew I wanted to use the music to play a game or do a craft but there were so many that inspired me! I went with "Ladybugs" since it was super catchy and, with spring finally arriving, I was inspired to make some paper bugs - as well as a door, a shoe, a tree and the sun! To see how I made them click here. The shoe I took inspiration from a Pinterest post and adjusted it to make it look like a moccasin.

Give kids a chance to play freely to the music
I made the props and gave them to my kids. They hadn't heard the song before but were immediately keen to pick up the puppets and get them dancing. They weren't always able to make the puppets do exactly what they should do in line with the words in the song but that isn't important. They had fun and were enjoying the music.

Catchy music engages kids just like it does adults
This particular song is so catchy that we all found ourselves singing it throughout the day. My five year old could be heard singing 'Five little lady bugs...' in his bed last night before he fell asleep!
