A fun, interactive activity to go with this song about finishing your food and eating healthily!

Triple Emmy-winning Kindie Band, The Shazzbots, are set to release their third album, Lightspeed!, on March 1st, 2019. Inspired by the fantastic sixth song on this album, Clean Plate Club, we decided to create this fun disappearing food craft based on the food mentioned in the song - potatoes, salad, chili, green beans, broccoli, onions and bananas. Eating healthy is something we need to encourage in young people as much as we can and doing it in a positive way is a challenge that many parents, carers and educators face. Throw in some fun music and you can approach healthy eating in a light-hearted manner.
How We Made the Plate
Take two paper plates. Cut into the centre on paper plate 1 as shown. Using a circle cutter (or draw round something circular) cut out the centre part of paper plate 2. Cut into the centre of paper plate 2 as shown. This smaller circle will now fit into the slit made in paper plate 1. Now you can add your food to the smaller circle.

The New Album, Lightspeed!, by The Shazzbots
Based in Columbus, Ohio, The Shazzbots, a triple Emmy Award-winning kindie band, will release their brand new album, Lightspeed!, on March 1, 2019. Previous releases by The Shazzbots include the band's triple Emmy Award-winning TV pilot, We're The Shazzbots: Bugs, Bugs, Bugs (2016) and the albums Blast Off! (2012) and Shazzbots GO(2008). The new album is wonderfully catchy and full of great lyrics and beats guaranteed to ignite kids' imaginations.
Personally, as a lover of teaching and crafting, I always love coming up with activities and crafts to go alongside fun songs. This album is PACKED full of songs that I wanted to work with! Clean Plate Club resonated for the reason that I see and hear about so many kids who don't eat well. My kids loved playing with this craft and listening to the Clean Plate Club song.
The Shazzbots comprise Ian Hummel ("Captain Captain"), Dianne Hummel ("Luna Stardust"), Steve Frye ("Watts Watson"), Mike Heslop ("Navigator Scopes"), and Josh Tully (Professor Swiss Vanderburton"). In their own words, they:
"(Travel) the multiverse to play rocking tunes for the entire family, they vow, with every mission, to perform songs that push the boundary between kids' music and adult music, not just to entertain children, but also to inspire their creativity, curiosity, and sense of wonder."
Check it out - it's definitely one worth getting a hold of!
