Some kids don't take to learning their ABCs as enthusiastically as others. That's fine. Its a challenge for us to find creative ways to show them that learning to read really is something that they want to spend time on!

The concept of this really is very simple.
Write a simple message which is at your kid's reading level using a white crayon on white paper.
Fold the message up and put it in the hand of their favorite superhero.
Give them some watercolours to wash over the white paper and reveal the message.
To give the whole activity a purpose, you can put a 'baddy' somewhere and your kid has to find it.
If your kid can only do basic ABCs then you could write a single letter on the piece of paper and do a letter matching game. Write the same letter on another piece of paper and hide it somewhere in the room (perhaps with a 'baddy' next to it) and get them to find it and match the letters.
Of course, you know that you are going to have to play superheroes after right?!
