Word games and reading practice for cheeky little monkeys

I wanted to teach reading again today but wanted to show how smaller words can be used to make bigger words. So here we have four words in a flip book arrangement. As you flip through the book there is a new word to read (and a cheeky word at the end which most kids are sure to love..!)

A great way to teach this would be to either do as you see in the video and make the word strips in front of the kids OR give them the word strip already made and let them read through the words as they go.

Word 1 - Darted

Word 2 - Carted

Word 3 - Parted

Word 4 - Farted

You also have car and part as words 2 and 3 before they are added to the bigger word.

Learning should always be fun so I thought it was a little bit silly and fun to end of 'farted'. Kids love silly stuff, don't they...!
